How We Review Products at FitnessLifeMag

FitnessLifeMag publishes independent research and reviews of health, wellness and fitness-adjacent products. This page explains the process we follow so readers can judge our work on its merits rather than take our conclusions on faith.

Our Starting Point

We begin every review by identifying what the seller actually claims — on the product label, the official sales page, and any linked studies or certifications. We treat these as claims to be checked, not facts to be repeated. Where a seller cites a specific study, we go find that study and read it ourselves rather than taking the citation at face value.

How We Evaluate Evidence

We draw a clear line between two different kinds of evidence that often get blurred in product marketing:

Ingredient-level evidence — has a specific compound been studied, in any form, for any related use? This is a lower bar and a useful starting point, but it is not the same as proof that a finished product works.

Formula-level evidence — has the actual, complete product been tested on real people, ideally against a placebo? This is the evidence that most directly answers “does this work,” and we say so explicitly whenever it is missing, rather than letting ingredient-level research imply more than it supports.

We prioritize peer-reviewed research, regulatory guidance (such as FDA resources), and recognized clinical bodies (such as Cochrane reviews) over marketing copy, influencer claims, or unsourced blog content. Our full source-selection criteria are on our Sources Policy page.

How We Handle Customer Feedback

Complaints and reviews can reveal real patterns, but online review ecosystems also mix genuine experiences with advertorial content, incentivized reviews, and unverifiable claims. Where we discuss customer feedback, we say what we can and cannot verify, and we do not assign a manufactured “customer score” to any product.

What We Won’t Do

We will not claim a product is “clinically proven” unless we can point to a specific trial of that finished product. We will not present a single ingredient’s research as if it applies to an entire formula. We will not omit a product’s limitations or safety warnings to make a review read more favorably.

Updates and Corrections

Product formulas, pricing and seller terms can change after publication. We date-stamp our reviews and update them when we become aware of a material change. If you believe something on this site is inaccurate or outdated, you can reach us via our Contact page.

Affiliate Relationships

Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. This financial relationship does not change our evidence standards or our conclusions. Full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
